Program Description

The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) is a free 24/7/365 hotline for current and former foster youth and their caregivers to get immediate support from trauma- informed trained counselors for big or small challenges creating instability or threatening their current placement.  A local Mobile Response Team will be assigned to provide critical face-to-face support in home and/or community when needed.

The purpose of the Mobile Response System Team is to:

  • Provide collaborative, trauma-informed supportive services to address situations of instability

  • Preserve the relationship between the caregiver and the child or youth

  • Develop healthy conflict resolution and relationship skills

  • Mitigate the distress of the child, youth, or caregiver and promote healing as a family

  • Stabilize the situation and preserve placement

The team will help connect the caregiver, child, or youth to the existing array of services and supports in their community.  Follow-up care will be provided to ensure the family's needs are met and the child, youth, or caregiver feel safe.
