Watch Bridging the California Mental Health Workforce Racial Equity Gap: A Call to Action

On September 30th, 2021, Fred Finch Youth & Family Services hosted a one-day virtual summit called, Bridging the California Mental Health Workforce Racial Equity Gap: A Call to Action, in partnership with the California Alliance of Family and Child Services. The goal of the event was to put forward innovative solutions to the lack of racial equity in the mental healthcare workforce. Participants included stakeholders and subject matter experts from across disciplines including, academic leadership, policy makers, and thought leaders. Featured speakers included calls to action from California congresswomen Grace Napolitano, 32nd District and Judy Chu, 27th District, as well as a keynote address from Elizabeth Landsberg, the Director of the Department of Health Care Access and Information. This pivotal event additionally featured two panels of youth representing Cal-HOSA and CAYEN followed by four expert breakout groups. Many thanks to our sponsors, National University, Kaiser Permanente, John Muir Health, ProCo and the National Hispanic-Latino Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (SAMHSA).
